Bayer has revealed the results of the performance testing research.Heat-reflective color BegerCool in “Real House Testing”It is the world’s first in the paint industry, under a long-term study of over 10 years to prove the performance ofBegerCool heat-resistant house paintIn a real living environment, without solely referencing laboratory test results, it reinforces a new standard of paint innovation that can prove its effectiveness in the world’s climate, especially in tropical regions like Thailand. This study arises from the concept of Bayer, which aims to elevate the standard of paint product development to be as close as possible to the actual usage of consumers. Given that Thailand’s climate is highly variable, including temperature, sunlight, humidity, and rainfall, all of which directly affect the performance and lifespan of building paint, particularly during the summer when many areas of Thailand face challenges. The house is hot due to the temperature and heat accumulation from sunlight.
The research “Real House” is the first of its kind in the world in the paint industry.
Ms. Puangpen Sangpetch, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Bayer Co., Ltd., stated that Bayer does not focus solely on laboratory research because the real-world conditions are complex and constantly changing. Research in several countries has found that accelerated weathering tests in the laboratory may deviate from actual usage by approximately 20-50%, especially in tropical climates where weather factors are severe and highly variable.
“Every advertisement that Bayer communicates must ensure that we can truly deliver that quality to our customers. Testing in real homes is therefore another important step that reflects our intention to prove the effectiveness of our products transparently and verifiably in real usage conditions.” The Real House Testing project is designed to simulate actual living conditions by installing systems to measure temperature, energy, and the environment around the building to compare the results of the paint under real weather conditions over the long term. The data obtained from this study helps to demonstrate the effectiveness ofHeat-reflective colorand the durability of house paint against extreme weather conditions is clearly evident
The Heat Index may reach 58°C, a new challenge for homes in Thailand.
The research is of great importance in the context of increasingly extreme heat, with data from the Meteorological Department indicating that temperatures during certain periods of summer may reach approximately38–42°CWhen considering together with the relative humidity around40–60%When referring to the assessment of the heat index according to the model ofNational Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)It was found that the Heat Index may be higher than50°CAnd in some cases, it may reach a level close to58°C, which is a level that makes the body feel dangerously hot and increases the risk of conditionsHeat StrokeThe situation has made the choice ofheat-resistant paint or heat-reflective paintan important option that helps reduce heat accumulation in buildings and makes living inside the house more comfortable.
The new standard of proven paint innovation
This study not only reflects the innovative potential of Beger but also represents a significant step in creating a new standard for the building paint industry that emphasizes“Real-World Performance”rather than relying solely on laboratory test results. This approach aligns with the development of house paint innovations that meet the needs of living in the hot climate of the Asian region, especially Thailand, which faces high temperatures and intense sunlight year-round.
National awards reinforce the leader in paint innovation
The commitment to developing proven innovations is one of the key factors that have earned Beger national and industry recognition. Recently, the company received the National Innovation Honor Award “Champ of the Champs” from the National Innovation Agency (NIA), selected from over 300 organizations and brands that have received national innovation awards over the past 20 years, to honor organizations that play a prominent role in continuous innovation development.
In addition, Beger has also received4 awards from the Future Trends Awards for two consecutive yearsreflecting its leadership in innovation within the Thai paint industry. In the past year, Beger received theThe Most Innovativeaward, while in the latest year, the success has progressed from “product innovation” to “innovation that creates social impact” concretely through 3 important awards, namely
- The Most Impactful
- Leader of Technology
- Leader of Social
The achievements from these national awards reflect Beger’s innovation development concept that focuses not only on product effectiveness but also on the impact on the quality of life of people, society, and the environment, which aligns with the research development approach ofReal House Testingaimed at proving the effectiveness of innovations under real usage conditions. Beger continues to advance the development of paint innovations that address performance, durability, and sustainability to elevate the quality of living for consumers and help homes truly cope with changing climate conditions.
